Flat Rate Processing

One Simple Rate. That Is All You Pay.

Whatever you process in a month, we multiply by one fixed percentage. No statement fee, no batch fee, no regulatory product fee and no junk fees.

How It Works

The Whole Calculation, on One Line

Monthly card volume$30,000
×
Your flat rate1.80%
=
Your processing cost$540

Example for a nail salon at 1.80%. Rates vary by business type, and your rate is confirmed in writing before you sign up.

The one separate charge: an annual PCI compliance fee of $99, billed once a year. It is not part of your monthly processing cost. Non-compliance fees can apply until resolved; see disclosures.

Most salon owners cannot tell from their statement what they are really paying to accept cards. There is one rate for debit, another for credit, a higher one for rewards cards, another again for American Express, and then a list of monthly fees underneath. Astra flat rate processing replaces all of that with a single percentage.

You do not have to worry about American Express costing more, or about a client paying with a premium rewards card. Every card is billed at the same rate, so the card your client chooses never changes what the sale costs you.

Our goal is to make processing with us as simple as possible: one rate, one calculation, and a bill you can check yourself.

What You Will Not Find on Your Bill

One Rate, Without the Extras

The fees that usually make a statement hard to read are simply not part of this program.

No Statement Fee

You are not charged a monthly fee just to receive your statement.

No Batch Fee

Close out your day as usual. Settling your batch costs nothing extra.

No Regulatory Product Fee

No regulatory product fee is added on top of your processing.

No Junk Fees

No small line items with unfamiliar names padding your bill.

Amex and Rewards, Same Rate

American Express, rewards and business cards cost you the same as any other card.

One Number to Check

Volume times your rate. You can verify your bill in seconds.

Why Salons Choose Flat Rate

Simple Is Easier to Trust

A Bill You Can Predict

Because the rate is fixed, your processing cost moves only with your sales. A slow month costs less, a busy month costs more, and in both cases you know the number before the statement arrives.

No Penalty for the Cards Your Clients Carry

On many pricing plans, American Express, rewards and business cards are billed at higher rates, so your cost depends on which card a client happens to pull out. With Astra flat rate processing, every card is billed at the same percentage.

Nothing to Decode

Traditional statements can run several pages of rate categories and monthly fees. Ours comes down to one calculation, so you spend less time reading statements and more time running your salon.

Built Into Your Astra POS

Flat rate processing works with your Astra checkout, tips, gift cards and reporting, so your sales and your processing line up in one system.

FAQ

Flat Rate Processing — Frequently Asked Questions

What is flat rate processing?

Flat rate processing means you pay one fixed percentage on the card sales you process each month. Your monthly card volume is multiplied by that rate, and the result is your processing cost.

What fees are not charged?

There is no statement fee, no batch fee, no regulatory product fee and no junk fees added to your monthly processing.

Is there anything charged besides the flat rate?

There is an annual PCI compliance fee of $99, billed once a year and not part of your monthly processing cost. Two other fees apply only if your account is out of compliance: $19.95 per month while the Tax Identification Number (TIN) on file is invalid, and $29.95 per month while the PCI compliance survey is not completed. Both stop once the issue is resolved.

Do American Express or rewards cards cost more?

No. The same flat rate applies whether the client pays with American Express, a rewards card, a business card or a standard card.

What is my flat rate?

Your rate depends on your business type. Our savings calculator shows the rate used for your industry and estimates what you would pay with Astra. Your final rate is confirmed in writing before you sign up.

How do I check my bill each month?

Multiply your monthly card volume by your flat rate. That number is your processing cost for the month, so your statement is easy to verify.

Disclosures

The flat rate is a fixed percentage applied to your monthly card processing volume. Rates vary by business type and are confirmed in writing before you sign up. Savings calculator results are estimates.

The following are charged separately from the flat rate:

  • Annual PCI compliance fee: $99, billed once a year.
  • Invalid TIN fee: $19.95 per month if the Tax Identification Number (TIN) on your account does not match IRS records. It is charged until you provide documentation showing the correct legal name for your EIN.
  • PCI non-compliance fee: $29.95 per month if your account is not PCI compliant. It is charged until you complete the PCI compliance survey.

The invalid TIN fee and the PCI non-compliance fee do not apply to accounts that are in compliance, and both stop once the issue is resolved.
